Apollo Deep Space Dish Antenna

This 85 foot satellite tracking dish antenna was built near Goldstone, California in the Mojave Desert, to support the NASA Apollo moon missions in 1967. It was later upgraded with fiber optic cables and became part of the Deep Space Network of 3 dish antennas spread equally around the world. This international radio antenna network is used to contact interplanetary spacecraft, including the two Voyagers, and for radio astronomy to explore the solar system and interstellar space.
