Ferntree Gully Descent

I grew up in Ferntree Gully - at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. It was such a blessing to be so close to the hills and take a ten-minute drive to become surrounded by fern trees, the towering mountain ash and the fragrant air filled with native bird-song. As a family, we had many barbecues over the years at the Dandenong Ranges National Park in Upper-Ferntree Gully. The park has now become very popular - not just with bush walkers and nature lovers - but with fitness enthusiasts. The 'Thousand Steps' walking track offers a great challenge for those wanting to stay fit but it is also stunningly beautiful as the steps are caressed by the graceful fronds of the fern trees. My pen and ink drawing 'Ferntree Gully Descent' is based on a photograph I took as I was descending back down the steps on one of my walks. I hope my artwork will refresh you and lift your thoughts to higher places.
