Hand Painted Endangered Ceylon Rose Butterfly

Ceylon Rose Critically endangered The Ceylon Rose butterfly can only be found in the South -Western tropical rain forests of Sri Lanka. It is arguably the most seriously endangered swallowtail butterfly in the world and in need of urgent conservation measures. The exploitation of the 11,000 Hector, Sinharaja Forest reserve, one of the last strongholds of the Ceylon Rose has reduced the virgin forest area to 5000 Ha b and the exploitation of forest products continue to threaten the butterflies habitat. It is critically endangered, mainly because of habitat destruction. As human population expands, the dense forests, where this butterfly lives have been destroyed for both timber extraction and agriculture. Conservation : To advocate for more sustainable ways of agriculture that benefit and include local people and animals.
