These vintage illustrations were sourced from an 1913 book titled, "Bairei Gakan" ("Mirror of Bairei Paintings" or "Bairei Pictures"). Restored, cleaned and enhanced to highlight the vivid and exquisite details of the original print. Kōno Bairei (幸野 楳嶺, March 3, 1844 – February 20, 1895) was a Japanese painter, book illustrator, and art teacher.He was a member of the broad Maruyama-Shijo school and was a master of kacho-e painting. Bairei's ukiyo-e woodblock prints depict the beauty of the seasons and nature through his delicate lines and subject matter.
