Leafy Sculptures

This design collection is inspired by the evolving beauty of Philodendron leaves in Summer. To capture it I made four different paintings, each in a different stage of evolution. In its infancy, it is a tightly curled leaf, quite like a tightly closed fist of a newborn child. With the passage of time it becomes wider and airier, resembling a healthy chrysalis (caterpillar's pupa). Then it slowly unfurls revealing many shades of green. The colors are still not fully formed and are in their infancy. The rear of the leaf bears pastel blend of sea blue and dull green whereas the inside of the leaf is a fresh, shiny green. The mature leaf is dark green in color. The many shades of green on multiple forms create a very soothing sight on a hot summer day. All in all, I found that Philodendron leaves are incredibly beautiful and sculptural at every stage. Hence this collection is called ‘Leafy Sculptures’. This design is ideal for Summer celebrations.
