Queen Anne's Lace

This design collection is based on the blooms and leaves of Queen Anne's Lace, a lovely plant that grows in the Northeast of U.S.A in summer. Normally I make a painting of a species and then create a design collection based on it. But this species is so delicate, complex, intricate, lacey and, absolutely beautiful that I chose to do it in a novel way. A few stems of this plant were plucked that bore their blooms in different stages of evolution (i.e. buds and blooms) along with their leaves. Then they were pressed in a thick book and left to dry out for a few years. After this the digital images of these were made with a camera and then carefully formatted by hand on appropriate products. Since they are dry, I look upon it as a fall collection. The background color is pastel yellow or white or salmon. Pastel yellow reflects its fall appeal. White background brings out its sharp and delicate features and creates a stunning black and white (almost) contrast. On a few products the background color is salmon to complement it feminine and lacey aesthetic. Choose what you like and feel free to mix and match!
