TRANSFERWARE ANTIQUE TILE DESIGNS

Transferware tiles were made using an engraved copper or steel plate from which a monochrome print on paper is printed with ceramic underglaze and is then transferred by pressing onto the ceramic piece. It is then glazed and fired. Some tiles have hand painted details also. These are photo reproductions onto real ceramic tiles.
