The Priestess tarot card Poster

The (High) Priestess sits at her throne guarding the entrance to the underworld. I used Persephone as the archetype for this card as she is the queen of the underworld. The role of the priestess is that of initiator. She sits with her pets, Cerberus and a camel. The camel is symbolic as the vehicle for traversing the wastelands (the underworld). The snakes coiling around the pillars are another reference to the kundalini already mentioned in the magician card, but now there's 2 so dynamism is introduced. She has on her offering plate in front bread and pomegranate to nourish the initiate that is about to make the journey to the depths of his subconscious.
