Odilon Redon
Odilon Redon (1840–1916) was a French symbolist painter. Early in his career he worked almost exclusively in charcoal and lithography, works referred to as 'noirs'. During the 1890s he began working in pastel and oils, which quickly became his favourite medium, abandoning his previous style of noirs completely after 1900. He also developed a keen interest in Hindu and Buddhist religion and culture, which increasingly showed in his work.
Quite a few of my designs are inspired by Odilon Redon's beautiful, dreamlike flower paintings. By zooming in on the flowers, I could make some surprisingly festive cards for birthdays and other celebrations.
Here's a list of all included artworks (as of February 2022): Large green vase with mixed flowers (1910-1912), Large Bouquet in a Japanese Vase (1916), Buddha in his youth (1904), Woman with flowers (1905), Flowers (1909), Closed eyes (1890), Face behind a window (undated).
