Sir William Wallace Statue

This statue of Wallace in the Ballarat Botanical Gardens in Victoria, Australia, is of Sir William Wallace, a Scottish hero and leader in the First War of Scottish Independence, also known as "Braveheart". He was famous for his role in the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. The statue was a bequest from James Russell Thomson, a Scottish gold miner who made his fortune in Ballarat and was intended as a tribute to his Scottish heritage. The statue is surrounded by a vibrant flower bed, with the Robert Clark Conservatory in the background.
