Outside, plazas filled with friends who had planned their looks for months. Inside, the floor never quite stood still. It was loud, bright, and full of people who had come to be seen and to see one another. A few miles away the DoubleTree was already swinging. The Hot Jazz Jubilee had claimed every ballroom. Brass lifted the air. Vintage dresses flared across three dance floors. Couples who had driven in from everywhere spun under the same roof while zydeco, New Orleans jazz, blues, and Western swing traded rooms all weekend. Kids darted between sets. Evening light turned the stages gold. By Sunday night the whole hotel felt like one long, happy song that no one wanted to end. Two celebrations. One city.
