A consummate artist, Katherine would spend her childhood hours painting on her easel and sketching the world around her; especially while she was visiting with her grandfather who was also an artist and photographer. He would develop his images in a darkroom and explain the art of capturing photographs in great detail to his wide-eyed granddaughter, who had a hunger for learning.At the age of eight, Katherine was given her first 35mm camera by her father who had a deep love for photography much like his father.
