Today there are cultural forces designed to destroy the precious peace, freedoms, and liberties of families, to degrade women, and to attack children. In tumultuous times of the past when freedom loving people were threatened, ordinary men and women rose up to roles of leadership and wrote constitutions, declarations, and titles of freedom. These documents and banners served as standards upon which honored values and principles were defined. Men and women looked upon these emblems and remembered their God given rights and privileges. It caused to them to reflect on the past and move courageously forward in faith, hope and unselfish love. They served as symbols uniting people in their hearts against the tyrannies of the tyrants who sought to destroy the foundation of liberty. These historic symbols have served as the focal point of our peace and the peace of our children. We need to link arms within our families and communities and defend our families and freedoms. Thereby we give honor to our veterans of past conflicts for the sacrifices they made toward freedom and which our brave children do so today. Today, we see awareness ribbons on bumpers for many important causes. Breast cancer, support your troops, muscular dystrophy, and so on. All of them are very important and worthwhile causes that deserve our informed support. Notice the commonality interlaced through them all. It's the multi colored thread of family, love, and community. To ensure the healing support through any crisis represented by this parade of ribbons, the first responsibility and duty rests within the family structure. The success of a united and loving family overshadows any other victory or platitude. Within the family heroes are made in the eyes and hearts of whom it matters most, our spouse, our sons and our daughters. Families standing with arms woven together in love, support, safety, nurturing, protection, vision, and faith can weather anything. We can weather the storm of societal pressures bent on our destruction.
