Artust and haiku poet Annette Makino started Makino Studios in 2011 to share her Japanese-inspired art with the world. With a Zen sense of lightness and humor, she combines paintings with haiku and other words to capture fleeting moments and make connections. Using bamboo brushes, she paints with sumi ink that is ground in an ink stone, then adds color with Japanese watercolors. As is traditional in Asian art, she stamps each painting in red with one of her personal seals.
