Artist since I could hold a crayon, I studied many medias in high school and college courses. During my graduate schooling in wildlife biology I worked on several projects for wildlife illustration and self published a children’s book in 2007. I started training in martial arts in 1994 which began my interest in Asian culture. I’ve always been drawn to the Eastern style of brush painting – capturing the essence of the subject in a few elegant brushstrokes makes the painting experience a meditation. I began taking classes in 2018 through the Worcester Art Museum in Asian brush painting. I draw my inspiration for subjects primarily from the natural world, both from beautiful New England where I live, and from trips to Japan and China in recent years.
